Our Westchester residence, a ground-up home designed to highlight its stunning surroundings and offer the homeowners a truly indoor-outdoor lifestyle, covers the Spring 2021 issue of Luxe Interiors + Design’s Greater NY edition. We’re so proud to see this labor of love- literally carved from the rocky hilltop to create something magical for a longtime client – in one of our favorite design publications.
In View From The Top, writer Maile Pingel details this hilltop home designed to change with the seasons. Tasked with full ground-up architecture and interior design, our team carefully studied the home’s surroundings to capture bright sunshine and leafy shade, cool breezes and of course the sweeping, stunning views of both country and city. A soft, shimmery neutral palette captures the changing light throughout the day, creating a multi-sensory experience that the homeowners adore.
“The way we situated the house is pretty spectacular, but it took a lot of site sculpting gymnastics” says Andrew Kotchen. “We had to chip away about 500 tons of granite” As a result, the home appears to cascade down the site, with each bright, airy space wide open to the views and effortless connected to the exterior. At once modern and familiar, the team employed traditional elements common to the area to a modern architectural language to create a home that is perfectly of its place and time.
