The award-winning architecture and design firm Workshop/APD is celebrating the promotion of more than two dozen dedicated employees at every level, and the expansion of its leadership team this month.
“Over the last few years, we have seen unbelievable ingenuity, perseverance and commitment in the face of complex and unforeseen challenges,” said Workshop/APD founding principal Andrew Kotchen. “Thanks to the Workshop/APD team – and the countless contributions of these employees – we have not only weathered those storms but thrived, nearly doubling in size, expanding into new territories and verticals, and executing what is without question our finest work in nearly 25 years of practice. We’re proud to honor each of these employees for their hard work and passion.”
Among the updates within the firm’s Associate level, which debuted in 2020: Managing Director Zachary Helmers, a 17 year Workshop/APD veteran who leads the firm’s Minneapolis office and a multi-city architectural studio, has been named Associate Principal. Managing Directors Tyler Marshall and Michael Luft-Weissberg and Design Director Brook Quach are now Senior Associates. Workshop/APD also welcomed a number of new associates including Senior Project Managers Irem Cabbaroglu and Colin Murtaugh; Design Director, Interiors, Nicole Ficano; Director of Finance Ken Maes; Director of Business Development Jonah Kaplan; and Director of Marketing and PR Lisa Jasper. Tyler Chavers, formerly Senior Project Manager, Interiors, has also been named a Managing Director. Additionally, Rachel An and Zeina Doumet have been named Design Managers, a new title created to solidify a design-centric leadership path within the firm.
“The recognition of strong female leaders – including our first female associates – is emblematic of our ongoing commitment to a more inclusive Workshop/APD,” said principal Architect Thomas Zoli. “We are a better collective when we elevate diverse perspectives. This has been proven time and time again, and we’ve worked to create a path that above all honors collaboration and leadership.”
